Soda Ban Essay
I disagree with the NYC Soda Ban and so do 60% of
NYers. This ban has many loopholes and the government should have no control
over our diets. New York
is not a nanny state! I believe these loopholes are too big we can not work
around them.
Seeking to
reduce obesity rates, the New York City Board of Health approved a ban on the
sale of large sodas and other sugary drinks at restaurants, street carts and
movie theaters. This ban is one of a kind and will not benefit New York because of those
many loopholes.
Soda is not the
only thing causing obesity. Fast food is also an issue, banning soda will not
reduce obesity fully, and it will cut about ¼ of obese people out of the
equation. Fast food is a must have for road trips, parties, and of course the
super bowl! Many people eat it and it is full of sugar and salt which is not
healthy for people either.
I can see why you
would want this ban active it could definitely cut down on some health
conditions that are caused by sugary drinks. The remaining 40% of NYers agree
that it will cut down on obesity, but most of obesity is all over America
and not just NY.
In conclusion, I
disagree with this ban because there are too many loopholes. I think this ban
will not make a difference and will not affect our state.
