Faithful Elephants by Yukio Tsuchiya

Faithful Elephants by Yukio Tsuchiya is a heart aching tale about three elephants and the choices that the owners had to decide upon! During World War 2 in Japan, three elephants (John,Tonky, and Wanly)were living happily in the Ueno Zoo. All military forces declared that all the animals be sentenced to death. This story is a sad thought provoking tale about what some people may call animal cruelty. Some may call it animal cruelty because of how they described the elephants pain. "Later when the bodies of the elephants were examined, nothing was found in their wash-tub like stomachs, not even one drop of water." This gives you an idea towards the story line and gives you an amazing perspective. This story gives dimension to the thought of animal cruelty. It helps you to see both sides and understand why the author puts his heart and soul into this story!
